Inland Gobbles Up Southeastern Centers

Inland Retail Real Estate Trust has bought five grocery-anchored shopping centers located throughout Florida and Georgia. The aggregate price for the properties was $70.7 million — all of them were acquired in separate deals. All of the centers are anchored by Publix Super Markets.

"We continue to target grocery-anchored shopping centers because they continue to be the best performers in the industry," says Steve Sanders, senior vice president of Inland Real Estate Acquisitions Inc. "Publix is the leading grocer in the Southeast and among the strongest in the nation."

The single most expensive property was the 289,110 sq. ft. Cortez Plaza in Bradenton, Fla. Inland paid Cortez Pointe LLC $26.2 million for the property. The lowest price Inland paid was $5.2 million for the 60,799 sq. ft. Houston Square in Warner Robins, Ga.
