J.Crew Continues International Expansion

The specialty apparel chain will open its first store in the United Kingdom next year, on the corner of Regent and New Burlington Streets in London, according to GQ. The space will be 17,000 sq. ft. in size.

J.Crew made its international debut in Toronto last August, with a 5,000-sq.-ft. store at Yorkdale Shopping Centre. The potential for a strong international push seems to have been one of the reasons the chain was bought out by Texas Pacific Group and Leonard Cohen Partners in late 2010, one of the first private equity deals in the retail sector in the wake of the downturn.
