Five commercial buildings managed by Crimson Services in The Woodlands, Texas have been awarded the 2010 Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Energy Star.

The designation also includes the headquarters of Tetra Technologies, a global oil and gas service firm. The headquarters opened in February 2009. The awards are given yearly and recognize organizations that have made outstanding contributions to protecting the environment through energy efficiency. To earn an Energy Star, a building must use at least 35% less energy per square foot than comparable facilities.

According to the EPA, commercial and industrial buildings account for nearly half of all U.S. energy consumption. The Crimson buildings recognized also include Anadarko Tower and 1200 Timberloch, which make up the headquarters to Anadarko Petroleum. Town Center One, and Town Center Two also received the Energy Star designation.

Dykema attorney earns LEED credential

Brian Page, a commercial real estate and business attorney with the law firm Dykema in Grand Rapids, Mich., has passed the LEED Green Associate exam, earning him a LEED Green Associate credential issued by the Green Building Certification Institute.

LEED is an internationally recognized green building certification system  providing third-party verification that a building or community was designed and built using strategies aimed at saving energy, reducing carbon emissions and improving indoor environmental quality. The program was developed by the U.S. Green Building Council.
