CUPERTINO, CA—Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide Inc., based in Stamford, Conn., has opened its new 123-room Aloft hotel here next to the Apple world headquarters, bringing the hotel brand to more than 60 properties in 10 countries.

The property is owned by Shashi Corp. and managed by Azul Hospitality Group. Los Angeles-based Canyon Capital Realty Advisors provided the senior construction loan for the project, which was used to purchase the land and construct the brand new hotel.

Hotel amenities include an indoor pool, 24-hour fitness center and 1,350 sq. ft. of flexible meeting space, along with Apple TVs in every room. Nearby are the offices of Hewlett Packard, Google and IBM, Santa Clara University, HP Pavilion, Winchester Mystery House, the upscale shops and eateries on Santana Row, and a selection of wineries and world-class golf courses.

“We are thrilled to introduce the Aloft brand to Cupertino, the epicenter of global innovation,” says Dipesh Gupta, CEO of Shashi Group, in a statement. “With its flair for design and dynamic social scene, Aloft Cupertino is a great match for the energy of Silicon Valley.”
