Foresight Analytics and the Mortgage Bankers Association provide a glimpse of the timeline on coming commercial real estate maturities. The high water mark is still a few years away, hitting in 2013. What’s interesting is how over the years the composition of who holds the debt is changing, indicative of the growing role securitization has come to play in the industry. CMBS today account for a minority of maturities, but that will change. The year 2017—a decade out from the CMBS market’s peak—faces the largest volume of maturities for that segment of the market.
