353 North Clark Office Tower, Chicago

Tishman Speyer has signed a new tenant at 353 North Clark, a Class-A office tower in Chicago acquired by the firm in December 2010.Ventas Inc., the giant seniors housing and health care real estate investment trust (REIT), has signed a direct lease for 28,557 sq. ft.

Separately, Ventas is subleasing additional space from an existing tenant. Brokers Geoff Euston and Meredith Soren of U.S. Equities represented Ventas in the direct lease transaction, while Tishman Speyer’s Joe Gordon and Jon Cordell represented building ownership.

Tishman Speyer also announced that IntercontinentalExchange Inc. (ICE) has signed a renewal at the 353 North Clark and has expanded to 27,785 sq. ft., an increase of more than 5,000 sq. ft.

A tenant at 353 North Clark since 2009, ICE operates regulated exchanges, trading platforms and clearing houses serving global markets for agricultural, credit, currency, emissions, energy and equity index markets.

Renee Betzelos of ProTen Realty represented ICE in lease negotiations while Joe Gordon and Jon Cordell represented building ownership.

Designed by architect Dirk Lohan of Lohan Anderson, 353 North Clark is a 45-story, 1.2 million sq. ft. building that offers on-site amenities such as dining and catering, a premier health club, conference center, concierge services, integrated security, messenger center and underground valet parking.

The tower, developed by Mesirow Financial Real Estate, has earned a LEED gold certification for its core and shell. The building’s largest tenants are Mesirow Financial and Jenner & Block.
