Glimcher Joins Malls for New Town Center Crossing

LEAWOOD, KS—Glimcher Realty Trust said it has formally joined its 440,000-square-foot Town Center Plaza mall here with the One Nineteen retail center next door, that it purchased in May 2011 for $67.5 million.

With the addition of the 165,000-square-foot One Nineteen, with tenants such as Appple and Trader Joe’s, the new property will be called Town Center Crossing. Glimcher said it will rebrand both centers with new logos, new signage and a shared property directory. The Plaza property includes tenants such as Macy’s, Pottery Barn, Anthropolgie, Madewell, J. Crew and Bravo! Cucina Italiana.

“Our hope by rebranding the properties is to create the Town Center district, marking one of the best retail areas outside of Kansas City,” said Marshall Loeb, president and COO. “We love the Leawood community and believe the combined shopping district will further entice first-to-market, upscale retailers, which have been synonymous with both centers.”

The retail trust said it recently opened a new 7,000-square-foot Brooks Brothers and a 5,000-square-foot Orvis sporting goods store, and a 4,000-square-foot Feng woman’s boutique will open by the end of November. Glimcher owns interest in and manages 27 properties comprising gross leasable area totaling approximately 21.6 million square feet.
