Nordstrom to Build Onto Mayfair Mall

WAUWATOSA, WI—In today’s retail market, it’s much more usual for an older mall to shed space, but here at Mayfair center, General Growth Properties plans to add a new Nordstrom building to the 1.1-million-sq.ft. retail property.

The new three-level, 140,000-sq.-ft.-Nordstrom will be built connected to the mall in the east parking lot. The store is scheduled to open in fall 2015. The mall was built in the 1950s, and is considered the largest mixed-use shopping center in Wisconsin, with 160 stores. This would be the state’s first Nordstrom.

"We've heard from customers in the Milwaukee area for years that they would appreciate a store in their community," said Erik Nordstrom. "We're glad we have an opportunity to serve our customers, as well as those new to Nordstrom, in such a strong location as Mayfair."

Other tenants at the mall include Ann Taylor, the Apple Store, Banana Republic, Bare Escentuals, Coach, Dry Goods, GAP, J.Crew, LEGO, Pandora, Pottery Barn, Sephora, Williams-Sonoma and a two-level Barnes & Noble Booksellers, as well as restaurants such as the Cheesecake Factory and McCormick & Schmick’s. The mall is surrounded by an 86-acre business complex.
