Visitation School Taps Opus to Design, Build STEM Building in Mendota Heights

MINNEAPOLIS—Convent of the Visitation School has tapped Opus Design Build LLC to design and construct a new 4,000-sq.-ft. science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) building at the school’s Mendota Heights, Minn. campus.

Opus AE Group Inc. will serve as the architect for the project while NELSON will manage interior design.

Part of a two-phase renovation for the school, the STEM center will serve as workshop and assembly space. The industrial-type space will include a concrete floor, workbenches and a machine shop. Additional office and classroom space will also be constructed. A 1,800-sq.-ft. expansion to the school’s dining area is also planned.

In addition to the STEM center, Opus will be designing and constructing a new main entrance, as well as classrooms and study and gathering areas.

Construction of the STEM building is slated to be completed for January 2013.
