Newark Readies for Delivery of Two New Hotel Developments

NEW JERSEY—Newark will welcome two new hotel developments in the last quarter of 2012.

The Courtyard by Marriott at the Prudential Center, situated at the northeast corner of Broad Street and Lafayette Street, will contain 150 hotel rooms and also include a restaurant and meeting space. Slated for delivery in September, The Courtyard by Marriott at the Prudential Center broke ground in the spring of 2011.

Developed by Tucker Development Corporation, the hotel development contains approximately 15,000 sq. ft. of ground-floor retail and restaurant space.

The Hotel Indigo, slated for completion by year’s end, will be a 106-room hotel which is aiming for LEED Platinum certification. Formerly the National State Bank Building, which was designed in 1912 by Cass Gilbert, the property, located at 810 Broad Street, will include meeting space, a full-service business center and lounge and restaurant.

Both hotels are located within close proximity to public transportation.
