Oct. 1 Groundbreaking Set for N.J. All Stars Center for Afterschool Development in Newark

NEW JERSEY—On Monday, Oct. 1, at 4:30 p.m. the New Jersey All Stars Center for Afterschool Development will break ground at 33 Washington Street in Newark. Designed by All Stars Project National board member and architect Douglas Balder, the 9,000-sq.-ft. center is being constructed by Hollister Construction Services with Posen Architects serving as architect of record.

Established in 1999, the All Stars Project of New Jersey creates afterschool, educational and performing arts activities for young people from Newark and New Jersey. The new facility will serve as the All Stars’ headquarters and will enable the organization to expand its programming and partnerships in the community.

The center is the cornerstone of the All Stars’ $9.2 million campaign announced in 2010. To date, more than $7 million has been raised towards the goal.
