Michael Mazzei Joins Ladder Capital as President

NEW YORK CITY—Ladder Capital Finance Holdings LLLP, a commercial real estate finance company, has appointed Michael Mazzei as President. Mazzei, a leading commercial real estate veteran, joins Ladder from Bank of America, where he served as managing director and global head of the CMBS and bank loan syndications groups.

With over 25 years of experience in commercial real estate and capital markets, Mazzei will play a central role at Ladder as the Company continues to develop its securitization platform and expanding asset management business. Co-founder Greta Guggenheim will become chief investment officer, focusing on the Company’s origination, investment and distribution activities.

"My time at BofA Merrill Lynch was a great experience. The team was able to reduce virtually all of its legacy CMBS assets and restart the CMBS 2.0 business," said Mazzei. “I very much look forward to this next chapter in working with the team at Ladder."

Prior to his tenure at Bank of America, Mazzei served as head of CMBS and commercial real estate debt markets at Barclays Capital and as a founding head of the CMBS practice at Lehman Brothers in the late 1980s. He would eventually spend 20 years at Lehman in roles including co-head of global real estate investment banking and CEO of Lehman RE. Mazzei received his JD from St. John’s University, his Bachelors Degree in Finance from Baruch College, and is a graduate of the NYU Real Estate Institute.
