Investors are once again proving that their confidence in commercial real estate remains steadfast. Exclusive results from the NREI/Marcus & Millichap Investor Sentiment Survey indicate that a majority of investors expect both core fundamentals and property values to continue to rise in the coming year. That positive outlook is fueling a desire to further expand real estate holdings.
“The overriding theme is that we are staying at near highs in investor sentiment,” says Hessam Nadji, senior vice president and chief strategy officer at Marcus & Millichap in Calabasas, Calif. That sustained confidence continues to defy the shifting headwinds from factors such as the global geo-political scene, the Federal Reserve tapering strategy and slow-to-improve jobs numbers. “What this is really telling us is that investors see so much strength in commercial real estate and so much yield advantage compared to alternative investments, that they are confident in this sector and they plan to remain very active in this sector,” says Nadji.
