NJMG Begins Implementation of Solar Project in Rockaway

ROCKAWAY, NJ—KDC Solar LLC, based in Bedminster, N.J., has begun its solar project at North Jersey Media Group’s (NJMG) printing facility in Rockaway, N.J. The project, the largest PV solar system at any printing facility in New Jersey, will generate approximately 6.2 million kilowatt hours of solar electricity per year, which will provide approximately 60 percent of NJMG’s annual electric needs.

"We are very pleased to have worked with North Jersey Media Group and, in particular, the Borg family to bring this concept to reality,” said Hal Kamine, KDC Solar’s CEO. “This project is another example of a successful 'behind-the-meter' clean solar electric system for business/government and institutions, which in turn create or preserve both short- and long-term jobs for the state."

KDC Solar is supported by an allocation of $225 million in equity from Diamond Castle Holdings, a New York-based private equity fund. The company currently operates 34 megawatts of solar facilities at nine locations.
