The Street:10 REITs That Crushed the Market in 2010

Some Real Estate Investment Trusts (REITs) outperformed the stock market in 2010 by a significant margin, according to a report in The Street.

The Dow Jones Equity All REIT Total Return Index rose 28% in 2010, double that of the benchmark S&P 500 Index. That's on top of a 33% advance in 2009, the publication reports.

Newcastle Investment (NCT) and Glimcher Realty Trust (GRT), which was featured in an NREI cover story earlier this year, are the two best-performing REITs this year as investors hunt for dividends, put off by record-low bond yields, according to the report.
