Like
other commercial real estate sectors, seniors housing has seen a
slowdown in construction during this downturn. But unlike other
sectors, demand for seniors housing is forecast to outpace supply in
the future.
“If we don’t start seeing some development soon,
we’re going to see a real shortage in 15 years,” says Danny
Prosky, president & COO of Grubb & Ellis Healthcare REIT II, a
public non-traded REIT that invests in healthcare facilities, including
seniors housing.
