Susan Barlow, a 20-year veteran of alternative investment strategies, is joining RREEF Alternative Investments as a managing director and head of global client relations.

Most recently, Barlow was a co-founder of American Value Partners, an institutional real estate fund of funds. She founded Fiduciary Capital Inc., which specialized in raising capital for limited partnerships from the institutional investment community. Barlow also was a managing director instrumental in starting Callan Real Estate Services, an affiliate of Callan Associates.

Barlow’s responsibilities include directing the activities of RREEF’s global client relations organization across the Americas, Europe and Asia Pacific. She will also be actively involved in investment product development and will join RREEF's global executive committee and global alternative assets investment committee.  
 

NCREIF Conference Hosts REIS Board

In the never-ending drive to establish itself as a verifiable standard for the institutional real estate investment industry, members of the Real Estate Information Standards (REIS) board are meeting with plan sponsors and portfolio managers during next week’s conference of the National Council of Real Estate Investment Fiduciaries (NCREIF) in Washington, D.C. The meeting on June 19 will assess information needs of the investor community in order to incorporate those notions into REIS.

Recently REIS received numerous comments on its proposed new fund reporting standards. Those comments evidenced strong support for the development of standards, which include required and recommended elements to include in periodic fund reports. These proposed standards will apply to all fund types, including open-end, closed-end, single investor separate accounts, as well as all strategies, including core, value-added and opportunistic.

The proposed effective date of the fund reporting standards is for fiscal years beginning after December 15, 2008, with earlier adoption encouraged.
