Douglas Elliman Puts Faith In Its Future

Faith Hope Consolo (left), her partner, Joseph Aquino, and 10 team members have moved to Prudential Douglas Elliman following the acquisition of their former firm, Garrick-Aug Worldwide, by Union Traders Corp.

“We didn't agree on everything,” says Consolo, of Lawrence Selevan, the chief operating officer of UTC and now chief executive and chairman of Garrick-Aug. “The new owner wants to do some investment banking.”

Consolo will head up the expanded retail division at Prudential as chairman. Aquino is the executive vice president.

The move comes after months of speculation that Consolo was looking to jump ship, though reports indicated Selevan was caught off guard and his initial comments were cutting. The wound apparently healed — mostly.

“We will miss her,” Selevan says. “But Garrick-Aug has survived when other single brokers have left the firm. We hope she receives the same kind of support we provided her for nearly two decades.”

Reading between the lines, the reference to “a single broker,” dismisses the potential impact of the departure of Aquino and the other unidentified employees Consolo took with her.

Meanwhile, Garrick-Aug has promoted Leonard Rosenblatt to managing director of the Tenant Representation Group of what's now called Garrick-Aug Associates Store Leasing Inc. Rosenblatt, who has been with the firm 19 years, was senior broker and consultant. His group will exclusively represent existing clients. And Michael Kramer has been hired to locate and develop retail opportunities in emerging neighborhoods throughout the New York metropolitan area.
