FAIRFAX COUNTY, Va. - Telecom has gone national. Eight major real estate companies have teamed with Fairfax County-based venture capital firm Kleiner Perkins Caufield and Byers to formBroadBand Office.
The real estate consortium includes CarrAmerica Realty Corp., Crescent Real Estate Equities, Duke-Weeks Realty Corp., Equity Office Properties Trust, Highwoods Properties, Hines, Mack-Cali Realty Corp. and Spieker Properties. Together, they own a stake in BroadBand Office and provide access to their respective office property portfolios, which represent about 10% of the total commercial office market in the United States.
Businesses will purchase communication services - including local- and long-distance phone services, high-speed Internet access, data and video connectivity, voice and e-mail services and Web hosting - directly from BroadBand as a single vendor.
