A joint venture of The Morgan Group Inc., Houston, and San Diego-based SAS Development LLC has begun construction of Marina Place, a 149-unit apartment complex in downtown San Diego that will also feature 10,822 sq. ft. of retail space. Completion is slated for spring 2002.
The five-story complex will offer one-bedroom units, two- and three-bedroom townhomes, studios and loft-style apartments. The units will have built-in computer desks and high-speed Internet wiring. Marina Place also will feature a 24-hour fitness facility and a media/movie room. As for the retail component, the complex has inked its first tenant, Oscar's Restaurant, a San Diego-based family-style restaurant, has signed a 6,029 sq. ft. lease. The 1.38-acre lot on which the complex will be built previously contained a Greyhound bus maintenance yard and two parking lots.
