As part of its merger with Koll Real Estate Services, Los Angeles-based CB Commercial expanded its management team, naming Brett White president of its core brokerage business.

NREI: What special qualities or experience do you feel you bring to the new job?

White: I joined CB Commercial in 1984. Over the past 14 years I have done work in every division of the company. I have had the unique opportunity of working both on the sale side, where I gained invaluable lessons and understanding of our clients, and I have worked for the past seven years on the management side, where I have learned the needs of our employees. This background allows me to uniquely bridge client requirements with our service organization.

NREI: What are your goals for the unit?

White: I would like to fully realize our vision of a vertically integrated, globally capable services firm bringing to our clients the best products and services available anywhere. I would further define our goals to say that we are driving towards the "one enterprise-one vision" services firm. Our ability to marshall the resources of a 6,400-employee firm towards the needs of every one of our clients, large and small, will determine our success or failure in the coming years.

NREI: What challenges do you see arising from the merger with Koll and the company's reorganization?

White: I have never before seen two firms come together where there has been so much synergy between the organizations and so little conflict. We have found incredible strategic synergies between the two firms. An example of this is the Koll corporate facilities management business. We discovered during our exploration of the Koll organization that they had built one of the preeminent facilities management firms in the country. The vast synergy and opportunity that results in marrying a facilities management capability with all the resources and the distribution network that CB Commercial brings to the table is truly incredible.
