Chicago-based Senior Lifestyle Corp. has broken ground on the Senior Suites of Hegewisch, an 84-unit seniors housing community in Chicago. Completion of the project, which will be Senior Lifestyle's ninth Senior Suites facility in Chicago, is slated for fall 2001.
The complex will feature studio and one-bedroom apartments with complete kitchens and bathrooms, and resident lounges will be on each floor. Amenities at the community will include monthly housekeeping and an emergency response system in both sleeping and bath areas. All utilities except telephone service are included with the rent. Also, self-serve meals of pre-prepared food will be available Monday through Friday.
Seniors Suites properties are constructed through a private/public partnership. Chicago's Department of Housing, Department of Planning, and Department of Aging, and the Illinois Housing Development Authority have all participated in the planning of the Seniors Suites communities.
