Urban retail facility opens in downtown Chicago

The Shops at North Bridge has opened in downtown Chicago. Chicago-based The John Buck Co. developed the 386,000 sq. ft., four-story, urban retail facility, which is located along Michigan Avenue's "magnificent mile." The urban complex features a 217,000 sq. ft. Nordstorm department store - the first in downtown Chicago - 35 shops, and a private meeting facility with catering and a concierge service. A five-star Le Meridien hotel will be located atop the four-story facility and is slated for completion in March 2001.

The former McGraw-Hill building features a four-level atrium with a hanging, refractive-glass sculpture, modern artwork, and offers shoppers views of Lake Michigan and Navy Pier. The facility also has more than 2,500 parking spaces and access to Chicago's public transportation.
