Hat World, a subsidiary of Genesco Inc., entered into an agreement to acquire Hat Shack, Inc., a Marietta, Ga.-based retailer that operates 49 headwear stores in the southeastern United States, for $18 million. The transaction is scheduled to close in late 2007-early 2008.

Saks Inc. named Dennis Ling as senior vice president and treasurer of its Saks Fifth Avenue Enterprises. Ling has 20 years of experience in business and previously served as senior vice president of finance at Avon Products, Inc. He will assume his new post by May of 2007.

TA Associates finalized its minority investment in Steve & Barry's University Sportswear. The chain operates more than 180 casual apparel stores across the United States.

Services Acquisition Corp. International shareholders approved its merger with the Jamba Juice Company. Under the terms of the agreement, SACI acquires all of the outstanding securities of Jamba Juice, turning the company into its wholly-owned subsidiary. Jamba Juice operates more than 585 stores nationwide.

Wendy's International, Inc. accepted for purchase 22,413,278 shares, or 19 percent of its outstanding common stock, at the price of $35.75 per share for a total of $801.3 million.

United Retail Group, Inc. appointed Aaron J. Fleishaker as senior vice president of real estate. Fleishaker has more than 20 years of experience in real estate and retail. Previously, he served as senior managing director of equity investments with DJM Asset Management.
