Voting Independent

Macerich Corp. is working with Landmark Theatres to create the largest independent film center in the U.S. at its Westside Pavilion property in Los Angeles. The three-story Landmark Film Center will feature first floor restaurants topped with 12 screens and a lounge and wine bar on the upper two floors. The venture's hope is that the center will be used for premiere screenings and to showcase the work of up-and-coming filmmakers. F+A Architects designed the addition. Construction began in January 2006 and the project will open next summer.
