There's been plenty of opposition to McDonald's in recent years. There have been books and movies like “Supersize Me” and “Fast Food Nation.” And, there was José Bové, the French farmer who drove his tractor into one restaurant. But the German village of Geschendorf came up with a new angle. The village has stopped a McDonald's from opening on its outskirts because it doesn't sell sausages and sauerkraut. The town's mayor, Fritz Kock, said: “There are 508 people here and we all agree we do not want foreign trends here. We are quite happy with the local restaurant where we can get sausages and schnitzel, and all nine local councillors supported the decision.”
