The Trammell Crow Co. appointed api(+) to design the Posner Commons Shopping Center, a 600,000-sq.-ft. retail center in Tampa, Fla.

Barry Real Estate Cos. of Atlanta appointed Wakefield Beasley & Associates Architects, Inc. as the master planner for the six-mile stretch of the Beltline, a transit and green space loop along the historic railroad corridor encircling the city of Atlanta.

F+F Development started the interior renovation of Inlet Square, a 433,345-sq.-ft. mall in Murrells Inlet, S.C. Part of a major redevelopment initiative, the renovation will include new flooring, new ceilings, new roofing and new exterior signage. The redevelopment will also include an expansion of the property to 500,000 sq. ft. and re-merchandising.

Metropolitan Life Insurance Co. provided a $70 million construction loan for the Shops at Fifth & Alton in South Beach, Fla.

Forum Management Group and Raymond James & Associates sold North Augusta Plaza, a 254,718-sq.-ft. retail property in North Augusta, S.C., to Thackeray Partners for $23 million.

Weingarten Realty Investors hired Charles Carter as vice president/senior regional director of new development for the Southeast region. Prior to joining Weingarten, Carter served as vice president of retail development with Redico, LLC.

Marcus & Millichap negotiated the sale of Stony Brook South, a 144,632-sq.-ft. shopping center in Louisville, Ky., from Hurstmile LLC to Discovery DBSI for $22 million. Larry Hausman, of Marcus & Millichap, represented both parties in the transaction.

Woolbright Development Inc. acquired Abacoa Town Center, a 91,400-sq.-ft. retail property in Jupiter, Fla.

E.J. Plesko appointed Madison Marquette as the leasing agent for Millennia Crossing, a 100,000-sq.-ft. shopping center in Orlando, Fla. Millennia Crossing is scheduled to open in the fall of 2008.
