City of Saint Paul, Ryan Companies, Saint Paul Saints Plan New, $54M Ballpark

MINNEAPOLIS—Ryan Companies U.S. Inc., in partnership with the City of Saint Paul and the Saint Paul Saints, is planning to develop and construct a new, $54 million ballpark located at 5th Street and Broadway in the Lowertown neighborhood of Saint Paul, Minn. The Lowertown Ballpark is slated to open to accommodate the 2015 baseball season.

Plans for the open-air, grass ballpark, which will serve as the home field for the Saint Paul Saint’s Professional Baseball Club, include 7,000 fixed seats, 2,000 general admission seats with a capacity of 9,000; six to eight suites; a public plaza; restaurant; and permanent art exhibits.

The new park will replace the existing Diamond Products/Gillette concrete structure.

“We are very excited to design and build the next great addition to the city of Saint Paul,” said Mike Ryan, director of architecture and engineering for Ryan. “Ryan is committed to its history of improving Minnesota and the Twin Cities metro.”

Ryan Companies has been retained by the City of Saint Paul as the design-builder, including architect of record for the project. Additional partners for the project include Julie Snow Architects as design architect and AECOM as sport architect.
