CMU Board to Consider Detroit Lease

MOUNT PLEASANT, MI—The Central Michigan University Board of Trustees, meeting for the first time this year this morning, will consider whether to open a small office in Detroit.

The college is based here in this mid-Michigan community, about 155 miles northwest of Detroit. However, the trustees will consider a resolution that requests authorization for the university to lease approximately 4,000 square feet of space in Detroit. The space would support Global Campus and enrollment management and student services primarily, as well as government relations, development and external relations, institutional diversity, the president’s office, libraries, and CMU’s academic colleges. The facility would include one large room for class instruction and other meetings.

The lease is not to exceed $143,000 a year with funding provided by university reserves, according to a CMU statement. The location of the considered lease was not revealed.
