DETROIT—The Michigan State Housing Development Authority is set to request funds Jan. 14 through the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development for the construction of 32 rental units here on a brownfield property on Bagley Avenue, west of Michigan 10 freeway.
The Scotten Park Limited Dividend Housing Association LP will accept about $6.7 million in state and federal incentives to build the apartments. Eight of the units will be rented as low-income housing. The target population for the project is families and individuals with incomes between 30 percent and 60 percent of area median income.
Even though the property is designated a brownfield, the state has decided not to prepare an environmental impact statement. The site has “no significant adverse impacts or hazards,” according to a MSHDA statement.
