CBL to Expand Cross Creek Mall

CBL & Associates Properties Inc. will expand Cross Creek Mall, a 1-million-sq.-ft. enclosed regional center in Fayetteville, N.C. by 46,000 sq. ft. CBL plans to start construction in early 2013, with opening scheduled for the fall of 2013.

The project will allow CBL to bring new retailers to the center, including Chico’s, LOFT, White House | Black Market, Men’s Wearhouse, Reed’s Jewelers and Lane Bryant.

Rosenthal Properties to Lease, Manage Backlick Center in Virginia

Rosenthal Properties has been appointed as the exclusive management and leasing agent for Backlick Center, a 48,000-sq.-ft. strip center in Springfield, Va.

The center is currently 97 percent leased. Outback Steakhouse and Springfield Emergency Veterinarian anchor the property. Other tenants include Chick-Fil-A., Advance Auto Parts, 7-Eleven and Edible Arrangements. The center underwent a renovation in 2011.

Gap to Redevelop Flagship Store in Miami Beach

The Gap will redevelop its existing store at 1001 Lincoln in Miami Beach, Fla. into a two-level, 20,000-st.-ft. flagship store. In the meantime, the retailer will occupy Terranova Corp.'s space at 1669 Meridian Avenue.

Mindy McIllroy and Isabelle Courtial represented Terranova in the transaction.

Other Notable News

Miller Construction Co. will start work in January on a $5 million, 35,000-sq.-ft. Ashley Furniture HomeStore at 2101 Palm Beach Lakes Blvd. in West Palm Beach, Fla. The store will be designed to achieve LEED certification with regionally sourced materials and highly efficient climate control, lighting, plumbing and irrigation systems. The project is scheduled for completion in the spring of 2013.

Big Lots signed a lease with Maral Realty Associates for a 25,350-sq.-ft. store at 571 Route 10 in Livingston, N.J. Curtis Nassau and Florian Suserman, of The Goldstein Group, represented the landlord in the transaction.

Sleepy’s signed leases with Brixmor Property Group for a 10,000-sq.-ft. store at Carolina Pavilion in Charlotte, N.C. and a 6,150-sq.-ft. store at Franklin Square in Gastonia, N.C. Richard Weiss, of Feinblum Real Estate, represented Sleepy’s in both transactions. David Gerstenhaber represented Brixmor in-house.

General Growth Properties appointed Jim Fuson as general manager for the Galleria at Tyler in Riverside, Ga. Previously, Fuson served as senior operations manager with General Growth.
