IKEA Submits Plans for Third Store in Florida

IKEA submitted plans for a 417,000-sq.-ft. store in Sweetwater, Fla., its second location in South Florida. Pending approvals, construction on the store is scheduled to start in the spring of 2013, with opening expected in the fall of 2014.

The proposed store will be located on a 14.6-acre lot adjacent to the Dolphin Mall.

Wal-Mart to Open First Store in Miami

Wal-Mart Stores Inc. will open a 54,000-sq.-ft. Walmart Neighborhood Market at 6991 SW 8 St. in Miami. This will be the retailer’s first store in the city. The property at 6991 SW 8 St. will also include a gas station and a TD Bank. The Neighborhood Market is scheduled to open in 2014.

Divaris Real Estate Closes Multiple Leases in Virginia

Divaris Real Estate Inc. completed leases totaling more than 81,000 sq. ft. in central Virginia. The Children’s Museum of Richmond leased 26,060 sq. ft. of space at Winterpock Crossing Shopping Center in Midlothian. Zachary Means, Larry Agnew and Sara Goodall, of Divaris, represented the landlord, JNB Co., in the transaction;

K&G Menswear signed a lease for a 22,888-sq.-ft. space at White Oak Village in Richmond. Brett McNamee, of Divaris, represented the landlord, Forest City Commercial Group, in the deal;

Ulta Cosmetics signed a lease for 12,858 sq. ft. at Valley View Mall in Roanoke. Debbie Wake and Brett McNamee represented the tenant in the transaction;

CareMore Medical Enterprises signed a 10,000-sq.-ft. lease at Parkway Shopping Center in Richmond. John Madures, of Divaris, represented the landlord, Lim Family Partnership;

Luxottica Retail North America Inc. signed a 3,288-sq.-ft. lease renewal at Park Place in Richmond. Sara Goodall represented the landlord, Gibraltar Virginia S LLC, in the deal;

Stavna Dance Academy signed a lease for 2,986 sq. ft. of space at The Shoppes at Belvedere in Richmond. Bret McNamee represented the landlord, The Shoppes at Belvedere LLC;

Glenn J. Weaver signed a 1,920-sq.-ft. lease at Victorian Square in Midlothian. John Madures represented the landlord, Wharton Realty Group Inc.;

Creative Touch Interiors signed a lease for 1,750 sq. ft. of space at Parkside Marketplace in Glen Allen. Sara Goodall and Bret McNamee represented the landlord, PNK LLC.

Hodgdon Group Completes Construction of Ashley Furniture HomeStore in California

The Hodgdon Group completed construction on the conversion of a former Wickes Furniture store at Market Place Shopping Center in Oxnard, Calif. into a 50,040-sq.-ft. freestanding Ashley Furniture HomeStore.

Dan Wallner and Thom Duncan supervised this project on behalf of the Hodgdon Group. Greg James, of Nadel, served as the project architect.

Ashley Furniture will serve as an anchor for the shopping center along with Guitar Center and Carpet One.

Jo-Ann Fabric Signs Two Lease with Retail Properties of America

Jo-Ann Fabric and Craft Stores signed leases with Retail Properties of America Inc. for a 20,579-sq.-ft. store at 23rd Street Plaza in Panama City, Fla. and a 22,988-sq.-ft. store at Southpark Meadows in Austin, Texas.

Silverspot Cinema to Open at Promenade at Coconut Creek

Silverspot Cinema signed a lease with Garrison Investment Group for a 47,000-sq.-ft. 12-screen movie theater at the Promenade at Coconut Creek in Broward County, Fla. The theater is scheduled to open in 2013.

Bed Bath & Beyond signed a lease for a Bed Bath & Beyond/Buy Buy Baby prototype store at the Gurnee Mills in Gurnee, Ill.

SRS Real Estate Partners hired Scott Tiernan as vice president in its Atlanta office. In his new position, Tiernan will be responsible for sourcing acquisition and development opportunities for single-tenant building retailers and restaurant chains. He has more than six years of experience in commercial real estate. Previously, he worked at O’Leary Partners.
