FEMA Leases 200,000 Sq. Ft. in Queens on Short-term Basis

NEW YORK—The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has signed a 200,000-sq.-ft. lease at Forest Hills Tower to serve as the agency’s New York City headquarters for the next several months. FEMA will use the space spanning 10 floors for its administrative offices and has an option for short-term lease extensions in the wake of Hurricane Sandy.

Ken Siegel, of Jones Lang LaSalle, represented building owner Muss Development. The United States General Services Administration, acting on behalf of FEMA, was represented by CBRE’s Mark Greenspan.

Located at 118-35 Queens Boulevard in Forest Hills, Queens, the Class A property provides access to all five boroughs as well as to airports. In addition, the property is located nearby public transportation.

“Throughout our company’s history, Muss Development has maintained a commitment to civic responsibility,” Jason Muss, principal of Muss Development said. “Forest Hills Tower is a superb Class-A venue that perfectly suits FEMA for extending its critical reach throughout our area affected by the hurricane. We are proud to have been able to act swiftly to meet their needs.”

FEMA coordinates the federal government's role in preparing for, preventing, mitigating the effects of, responding to, and recovering from all domestic disasters, whether natural or man-made, including acts of terror.
