NAIOP NYC Offers Architectural Preservation Panel

NEW YORK CITY—The New York City Chapter of NAIOP will present the program “Architecture in New York City: Preservation and Adaptation” during the Chapter’s upcoming breakfast presentation on Friday, March 30th from 7:30 to 9:00 a.m. at the offices of Herrick, Feinstein LLP, 2 Park Avenue, 14th Floor.

Mitch Korbey, a partner at Herrick, Feinstein, who also chairs the firm’s land use and environmental group, will join a discussion on the challenges of restoring, modernizing and investing in New York City architecture. Korbey has more than 20 years of experience as an urban planner and land use attorney.

Panelists include:

*Richard Metsky, AIA, LEED AP, lead designer for Beyer Blinder and Belle. Metsky led the planning and design for numerous developments including the restoration and revitalization of Rockefeller Center’s retail and public places, 230 Park Avenue, the Empire State Building, the Chrysler Building and other New York City landmarked office buildings.
*Hugh Trumbull, AIA, a design principal at Kohn Pederson Fox, lists among his accomplishments numerous New York City, New Jersey and international design projects that achieve adaptive transformations of existing buildings. Trumbull’s practice addresses improved functionality, sustainability and compelling design.

“New York City’s office building stock is preserved and adapted more than any other major US market. This is due to worthy architecture as well as the economics of construction. This event will recognize the work of our speakers, the achievements of their peers and the challenges facing their clients,” said 2012 New York City Chapter President Brian Robin.
