Dean Shapiro to Lead CBRE’s Midtown Brokerage Ops

One week after Joseph Harbert left his position as vice chairman of CB Richard Ellis for Cushman & Wakefield, CBRE has named his successor. Dean Shapiro will now lead the company’s Midtown brokerage operations, which is CBRE’s most profitable arm. Shapiro is a 15-year veteran of CBRE and its predecessor firm Insignia/ESG.

Shapiro, who ran CBRE’s Westchester and Fairfield operations since 1999, will hold the title of executive managing director and will report to Mary Ann Tighe, CEO of CBRE’s New York tri-state region. In addition to leading the Midtown brokerage operations, he will oversee the firm’s asset services activities in New York City. Shapiro’s successor in Westchester/Fairfield will be named shortly, according to CBRE.

"Dean Shapiro is the archetype of the next generation leader at CBRE," said Tighe. "He is a person of energy, intelligence and integrity, with a commitment to the development and betterment of our brokerage professionals. He will be an asset in helping our brokers — already the most productive in the New York market — expand their business."
