Work Begins On D.C. Office Tower

Private developer/owner Tishman Speyer has officially begun construction on a signature-quality office building to be located at 1099 New York Avenue in Washington, D.C. The 11-story, 175,000 sq. ft. tower is expected to be completed and ready for occupancy by April 2008. Tishman Speyer also announced that national law firm Jenner & Block LLP has signed a 15- year lease for 86,000 sq. ft. to become the building’s anchor tenant.

A key feature of the new building will be a façade made entirely of individual shingle-like overlapping glass panels, creating an exterior that subtly changes color as the sun moves overhead. The skin is designed to maximize natural light for tenants with a sense of openness and connection to the city.

“In looking for new space, we were most impressed by the Tishman Speyer project,” says Les Lepow, senior partner at Jenner & Block’s DC office. “It combined extraordinary architecture with a premier location not far from our current office, with space that we felt would be great to work in and also be proud to show our clients.”
