CoStar offers displaced businesses free access to its database

NEW YORK — For those businesses displaced by the World Trade Center (WTC) tragedy, finding leasing brokers and office space just got a little easier thanks to the efforts of CoStar Group and the Real Estate Board of New York (REBNY).

CoStar Group, a commercial real estate information provider, is offering businesses free access to its extensive database of leasing brokers and available office properties in the New York metropolitan area. The state’s toll-free number, 1-800-I LOVE NY (800-456-8369), also is available to businesses and companies that need help finding space.

"As part of our continuing commitment to helping businesses that were displaced or otherwise directly impacted by the attack, we have arranged access to this valuable database," Governor George Pataki said.

To access the database, users should visit the Empire State Development Web site at www.nylovesbiz.com and select the "NY Site Finder" link. Then, click on "World Trade Center Disaster Alternative Space Listings."

This section also will lead browsers to the REBNY Web site. At the request of city and state officials, REBNY is establishing a space bank for businesses that lost office space downtown. REBNY is asking all major brokerage firms to provide information on space that is available for short-term use of six to 12 months. Volunteers are needed to set up the space bank.
