Ground broken on major Inland Empire retail center

Ground has been broken on Colonies Crossroads, a $200 million, 110-acre retail project in Upland, Calif. Target, Kohl’s Chick’s Sporting Goods, Bed Bath & Beyond, Ulta Cosmetics and LA Fitness will anchor the 1.1 million sq. ft. center. Additional tenant commitments include In-N-Out Burger, Vitamin Shoppe, Wells Fargo Bank and Banner Mattress.

The shopping center is a joint venture between Pacific Development Group of Newport Beach and Colonies Crossroads Inc. of Rancho Cucamonga. "Our tenant interest is extremely strong and we will be announcing more tenant commitments at the ICSC Convention," says Bob Lewis, partner of Pacific Development Group, adding that these will include a home improvement chain, theater and supermarket.

Colonies Crossroads is part of The Colonies at San Antonio, a $500 million, 434-acre master-planned community, which includes 1,100 single-family homes and 305 residential units. Phase I of the project, consisting of 550,000 sq. ft., is scheduled to open in the summer of 2004.
