Tucker Development Corp.

Tucker Development Corp. of Highland Park, Ill., promoted Fred Heichman to vice president of leasing. Heichman, who has 16 years of industry experience, will be responsible for direct leasing activities for the company.

3rd Works

San Diego-based retail development services firm 3rd Works named Gregory Gunter vice president, retail services. Gunter currently oversees management of tenant services and project management for more than $300 million of new development and 11 million sq. ft. of operational retail portfolios.

In addition, he pursues new business interests and marketing opportunities for the firm. Gunter recently led the tenant services team for TrizecHahn's Hollywood & Highland project.

The Crosland Group Inc.

Alex Dmyterko is the new president of Charlotte, N.C.-based The Crosland Group Inc.'s Crosland Retail division. Dmyterko, who previously served as president of Orlando, Fla.-based Commercial Net Lease Services, will be responsible for Crosland Retail's $350 million in properties under development and in operation.

Chainlinks Retail Advisors

Dan Gardiner, co-founder of Phoenix Commercial Advisors/Chainlinks is the new chairman of Washington, D.C.-based Chainlinks Retail Advisors. Gardiner succeeds Jeff Kuchman, a principal with Chicago-based Mid-America Real Estate Corp./Chainlinks. In addition, the organization appointed two stockholders, Ed Page and Marc Katz, to its board of directors. Page is principal at Houston-based Boyd Page/Chainlinks and Katz is principal at Baltimore-based H&R Retail/Chainlinks.

Aronov Realty Management

John Joyce is the new vice president of retail development in Florida for Montgomery, Ala.-based Aronov. Joyce, whose 30 years of experience includes stints with Faison and BVT Equity Holdings Inc., will lead the company's newly founded Florida office in Jacksonville.

Through the Florida office, Aronov plans to expand its development and management of retail properties in the Atlantic coastal regions of Georgia and South Carolina.

Shelter Bay Retail Group

Nick Javares is the new director of strategic planning for Mill Valley, Calif.-based property management company Shelter Bay Retail Group. Formerly president of Terranomics Retail Services, Javares will develop the merchandising direction of each of Shelter Bay's client properties and assist owners and leasing teams in implementation of his plans.

Commercial Net Lease

David Ballew is the new senior vice president of development at Orlando, Fla.-based Commercial Net Lease Realty Services. Ballew previously served as president & CEO of Atlanta-based BVT Equity Holdings Inc.

The Realm

John Campbell recently joined the board of directors of New York-based industry operating system The Realm. Campbell is currently president of Brookfield Ventures Ltd., an investment subsidiary of New York-based Brookfield Properties Corp.

He helped establish Brookfield's Eastern Canadian presence and subsequently acted as president of the Canadian management company, Brookfield Management Services, where he led the company's initiative for premium tenant service in the portfolio.

Spaulding & Slye Colliers

James Karman, president & CEO of Boston-based Spaulding & Slye Colliers since 1992, assumed the title of chairman and will continue as CEO. Richard Cross, former chairman, president & CEO of Virginia-based building products company MW Manufacturers, will serve as the firm's new president.

Cousins Properties Inc.

James Fleming is Atlanta-based Cousins' new senior vice president and general counsel. Fleming, who replaces Tom Charlesworth, has served as an executive committee member of the real property law section of the State Bar of Georgia since 1997.

He also is the chair of the real estate section of the Atlanta Bar Association for 2000-2001. Cousins promoted Charlesworth to executive vice president and CIO earlier this year.

The Weitzman Group

Dallas-based brokerage firm The Weitzman Group promoted Michelle Caplan to senior vice president. Caplan, who joined the company in 1998, specializes in retail tenant representation. She previously served as a tenant rep and project leasing rep for Atlanta-based The Shopping Center Group.

Marcus & Millichap

The board of directors of Newport Beach, Calif.-based Marcus & Millichap Real Estate Investment Brokerage Co. elected Mark Lucescu to the position of vice president of investments. Lucescu, whose expertise lies in neighborhood, community and power center transactions, represents principals nationwide in marketing, acquisition and disposition activities. He joined the company in 1988 as a sales associate.

Perkowitz + Ruth Architects

Rudolph Starks is the new director, southwest region for Long Beach, Calif.-based Perkowitz + Ruth Architects. Starks will lead business development and operation of the firm's new Las Vegas office.

Staples Inc.

Ronald Sargent, formerly COO of Framingham, Mass.-based Staples Inc., will become CEO of the big-box chain in February 2002. Sargent succeeds Thomas Stemberg, who will stay on as executive chairman.
