Chicago buildings earn BOMA awards

CHICAGO — BOMA International recently presented two Chicago buildings with its top ‘Building of the Year’ awards. 311 South Wacker Drive and 980 North Michigan Ave., both managed by New York-based Insignia/ESG, were recognized for excellence in property management.

The 1.28 million sq. ft. 311 South Wacker Drive, located in the West Loop submarket, took home the award in the million sq. ft.-plus category. TIAA Realty Inc. owns the Class-A building. The 429,000 sq. ft. 980 North Michigan, located at the tip of the Magnificent Mile, won the award in the 250,000 sq. ft. to 499,000 sq. ft. category. Sheffield Properties owns the building.

Entries were judged based on community impact, tenant/employee relations, building standards, energy management systems and procedures, building accessibility, emergency evacuation procedures and personnel training.
