Legg Mason arranges $25 million in financing for Samuels Property Group

WALTHAM, Mass. — Baltimore-based Legg Mason Real Estate Services/Spectrum Financial has arranged $25 million in permanent mortgage financing for Boston-based Samuels Central Square LLC’s Cambridge, Mass. Central Square project.

The developer completely rehabilitated the property at 625 Massachusetts Ave. at the heart of Central Square. The building contains 125,000 sq. ft. of office, retail and health club space. New tenants include Harvard University, which occupies more than 70,000 sq. ft. of office space, The Gap and Gap Kids, Boston Sports Club and Computer Recognition Systems. The site is about one mile west of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and one mile east of Harvard University and Harvard Square.
