Slough Estates USA has purchased Torrey Pines Science Center, a four-building, 294,844 sq. ft. R&D center in La Jolla, Calif., for $70.8 million. Equitable Life Insurance Society of America was the seller. Slough Estates plans to hold the property as an investment.

Tenants at the center include PharMingen, Agouron Pharmaceuticals, Stratagene Cloning Systems and Fujitsu Customer Service.
