Taubman opens 1.3 million sq. ft. mall in Palm Beach County, Fla.

WELLINGTON, Fla. — Taubman Centers Inc., a Bloomfield Hills, Mich.-based REIT, has opened The Mall at Wellington Green, a 1.3 million sq. ft. shopping center in Palm Beach County, Fla. Located at the intersection of Forest Hill Boulevard and U.S. 441/SR7, the two-level mall is part of a new 466-acre mixed-use community.

The anchors of the Mall at Wellington Green include department stores Burdines, Dillard’s, JCPenney and Lord & Taylor. Another anchor, Nordstrom, will open in the fall of 2003.

Approximately 100 retailers and restaurants opened with the mall, including American Eagle Outfitters, Charlotte Russe, Coach, Guess, Talbots and Tommy Hilfiger. As many as 120 tenants will occupy the space by this year’s holiday shopping season. The second phase of openings will include an additional 20 retailers for a total of 160 tenants.
