PRESS RELEASE: Berkadia Hires Jim Adams As Senior Vice President For Houston Production Team

HOUSTON – Berkadia Commercial Mortgage LLC (Berkadia) today announced the hiring of Jim Adams as senior vice president with its loan originations division. He joined Berkadia’s Houston office effective October 14.

Adams brings more than 30 years of industry experience to Berkadia, where he reports to Regional Manager Ernie Katai. He focuses primarily on commercial debt and equity originations, liaising with Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, HUD, life companies and other lenders to arrange debt placements. He will work alongside Senior Vice Presidents Cutt Ableson and Jon Gilfillan to help expand Berkadia’s Houston presence, developing and growing business for the office’s integrated debt equity and investment sales platform.

“Jim has a formidable background in debt and equity financing, leasing transactions and investment sales across the country, and he clearly understands our clients’ financial priorities,” said Katai. “His experience, coupled with extensive institutional and private capital relationships in the Houston area, will be assets to our already strong and ever-growing Houston presence.”

Most recently, Adams served as executive vice president and managing director of Newmark Grubb Knight Frank, previously known as Grubb & Ellis. Recruited to serve as the Houston market leader, he directed business opportunities, managed operations, led growth and recruiting campaigns and handled profit and loss responsibility. Prior to that, he served as senior vice president at Capmark Finance Inc., Berkadia’s predecessor, where he launched the Houston office in 2004. He has also held positions with Q10 Kinghorn, Driver, Hough & Co. and CB Richard Ellis.

“Berkadia is known for arranging competitive loans for its clients,” said Adams. “Having worked in the Houston commercial real estate industry for more than three decades, I am eager to apply my expertise and work alongside the Houston team to secure the capital our clients need with the best available terms.”

Adams graduated from Southern Methodist University with a Bachelor of Business Administration, Master of Business Administration and Master of Science in Real Estate and Regional Science in 1978, 1980 and 1981, respectively. He is a member of the International Council of Shopping Centers and the Urban Land Institute, and serves as a board member of the NAIOP.
