Willowbrook, IL – J.D. Salazar, SIOR has announced that Champion Realty Advisors, LLC is now Fischer–. Salazar is Executive Vice President and Managing Director of the new Chicago office. Chicago will join the seven other nationwide offices of the Dallas-based company.
“The Fischer platform and resources will allow us to provide our clients with meaningful cost saving services in addition to the best in class transaction services we were already providing them. Our plan is to grow the Chicago office to include at least 10 office, industrial and retail professionals within the next 12 months,” said Salazar.
Salazar founded Champion Realty Advisors, LLC in 1997 which went on to become one of the most successful Hispanic owned industrial real estate companies in the country. He has provided real estate services to numerous Fortune 1000 companies including the region's largest real estate companies such as ProLogis and First Industrial Realty Trust. Salazar represented Ozburn-Hessey Logistics in their acquisition of more than 3,000,000 square feet of space in the Chicago area. He represented Kellogg's in a build-to-suit 1,034,000 square foot regional distribution center and the Gillette Company in a build-to-suit 532,000 square foot distribution center. He has also worked on behalf of ProLogis in several transactions including a 806,400 square foot lease to Kraft Foods Global Inc., a 750,485 square foot lease to Kimberly Clark and the acquisition of 316 acres for two new business parks in the Chicago metropolitan area.
Throughout his career, J.D. has completed over 10 million square feet of transactions totaling more than $750 million in value. As an integral part of his community, J.D. is very involved in the Greater Chicago Food Depository. He served as a member of the Board of Directors from 2002 to 2012, and is past Vice Chairman of the Board where he successfully spearheaded efforts to diversify the Board. J.D. was also honored by Chicago United as a distinguished Business Leader of Color based on his overall career achievements, his success through balanced decision making, a respect for diverse points of view and creative ways to approach issues and topics. In 2005, Salazar was chosen as one of 10 Illinois business and civic leaders to spend two days and one night on the USS Ronald Reagan. He was a finalist as Latino Professional of the Year in 2009.
Salazar is a member of: the Society of Industrial and Office Realtors (SIOR); the Association of Real Estate(AIRE); the Warehousing Education and Research Council; and the Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals. He is the President of the University of New Mexico Chicago Alumni Association, is a past member of the University of New Mexico’s National Alumni Board and a past member of the Board of Education at Timothy Christian School (K-12) in Elmhurst, Illinois. Through his church, Christ Church of Oak Brook, Salazar is an active participant in international Christian missions and is a regular volunteer at FCHN Program Mission (Feed, Clothe & Help the Needy) in the Englewood neighborhood of Chicago. In 2008, he led a mission to Cairo, Egypt, to assist the Mamma Maggie organization, a Coptic Christian group that ministers to Christian and Muslim children living in the giant dump outside Cairo. In 2011 J. D. led a mission to the West Bank in Israel to support Musalaha, a Christian organization dedicated to helping Jews and Palestinians reconcile.
Salazar received a Bachelor of Engineering Degree (Energy and Power Systems) from the University of New Mexico and an MBA from Southern Methodist University. He currently resides in Burr Ridge, IL.
