PRESS RELEASE: Datawatch Expands In Philadelphia

BETHESDA, MD – In line with the clear mandate to expand its security services to office buildings throughout the Greater Philadelphia area, Datawatch Systems, a national leader in remote off-site access control systems, announced today that it has hired William H. Appelbaum (42) as Regional Sales Manager to spearhead new business development.

A veteran of the real estate industry with more than two decades of experience, Mr. Applebaum will focus on serving existing accounts and generating new ones.  He reports to Sean Brown, who was recently named head of business development for Datawatch Systems’ national operations.

“Philadelphia is a key market for us and a natural urban environment in which to expand our services, as it’s geographically situated between our headquarters in Bethesda, MD serving the Washington DC market and the growing New York City market,” said William F. Peel, III, CEO of Datawatch Systems. 

Datatwatch already has a significant presence in Philadelphia, with clients both in the Central Business District as well as in the outlying suburbs and greater metro area.  Among current clients are:  CB Richard Ellis; The Buccini/Pollin Group; and Keystone Property Group.

Prior to joining Datawatch Systems, Mr. Appelbaum was Vice President for the Eastern region of MACH Energy, a San Francisco, CA-based provider of online energy-based solutions for commercial real estate operators, managers, advisors and owners.  Earlier, he spent ten years with ThyssenKrupp Elevator Corporation having ascended to the level of Regional Vice President, service sales, where he was responsible for sales and account management valued at approximately $220 million.  During his tenure with the company, he oversaw sales for various regions in the country including the Mid Atlantic where he achieved the highest modernization revenue and margin in the United States; Philadelphia, where he managed $45 million in annual revenue; and Pittsburgh, where he managed more than $10 million in annual revenue throughout the area of Western Pennsylvania. 

A Pennsylvania native, Mr. Appelbaum earned a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration from Ashworth College in Atlanta, GA.  Among his professional affiliations are BOMA, and ULI.
