NORFOLK, VA – Harbor Group Management Company (HGMC), an affiliate of global real estate investment firm Harbor Group International, LLC (HGI), in partnership with Susan G. Komen for the Cure of Tidewater, http://www.komentidewater.org, has temporarily transformed Norfolk’s renowned World Trade Center sculpture by painting it pink in honor of National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Throughout the month of October, the freshly-painted centerpiece will serve as a visual reminder of the company’s commitment to raising awareness and funds for breast cancer research, education, screening and treatment. The massive spiral sculpture is located in front of the HGI-owned office tower at 600 World Trade Center. Officially titled “Undetermined Line,” it was created in 1987 by French conceptual artist Bernar Venet, whose work has been exhibited in iconic destinations worldwide, including Versailles.
“For 31 years, Susan G. Komen for the Cure Foundation has been at the forefront of global breast cancer research, raising billions of dollars to combat the disease,” says Robert S. Friedman, president of HGMC. “We support their efforts to educate people about the importance of early detection and available treatments.”
A team of painters from Designs by Denise, along with Susan G. Komen breast cancer survivor Jan Bradley led a painting ceremony at the building. Following the month-long series of breast cancer awareness initiatives, the sculpture will be restored to its original finish as part of an ongoing maintenance and preservation program at the building.
