PRESS RELEASE: Urban Innovations Promotes Monica Makin To Vice President of Acquisitons and Asset Management

CHICAGO - Urban Innovations is pleased to announce the promotion of Monica Makin to Vice President of Acquisitions and Asset Management. Ms. Makin will lead both teams within the company’s affordable housing division.

“Monica has the right combination of passion and expertise to advance our company in the affordable housing sector,” said Mike Scilingo, Urban Innovations President. “She is a proven leader in this industry and has exceeded our expectations. We are proud to have her on our team.”

Ms. Makin joined Urban Innovations as Vice President of Asset Management in 2011. She is accountable for both the affordable housing acquisition and management teams, staying involved in every project. Ms. Makin is currently seeking opportunities for Urban Innovations to expand and diversify their portfolio primarily in the Midwest.  Her focus weighs heavily on the Section 42 tax credit program and HUD Section 8. Prior to Urban Innovations, she was the National Director of Asset Management for National Fund Equity and the Vice President of Asset Management for Homestead Capital in Portland, Oregon. She was also a principal with Hardy Consulting LLC and a municipal bond attorney with Preston, Gates & Ellis LLP.

In addition, Ms. Makin was a past Vice-Chair of the Oregon State Housing Council, a member of the NE Business Owners Association and a member of the Oregon State Bar and the American Bar Association. She received her J.D. from the University of Oregon, School of Law and became a member of the Oregon State Bar in 1993.  She received her B.A. in Criminal Justice from the State University of New York at Albany.
