MINNEAPOLIS MIXED-USE PROJECT MAXIMIZES ITS NATURAL ATTRACTIONS

The Ryan Cos. U.S. Inc. has broken ground on a 273-acre mixed-use project outside of Minneapolis. The project, Dean Lakes, will be finished by the spring of 2006. When completed, the project is expected to draw more than 4 million visitors a year.

Dean Lakes is one of the largest mixed-use developments ever to be built in the Twin Cities' southwest region. It will blend 42 acres of residential space, including 295 housing units priced from $200,000 to $500,000, with 44 acres of retail and 90 acres of industrial and office space. The development also includes 84 acres of dedicated conservation area that features a regional trail system, park and wetlands.

“A lot of people have contributed to the planning process for Dean Lakes,” says Kent Carlson, vice president of development for Ryan Cos. U.S. “We believe those efforts have generated a plan that maximizes the natural attractions of an excellent site in a fast-growing community.”

Ryan Cos. has selected United Properties to manage sales and leasing for all commercial real estate at the site. The project will feature a total of 350,000 sq. ft. of retail, including big-box space, restaurants, banks, hair salons and a daycare center.
