Coeur will move to Chicago from Idaho in September 2013 as part of a corporate restructuring. The company employs 65 people at its current headquarters and plans to hire at least 60 in Chicago.
Steve SteinmeyerandJeff Liljebergwith Jones Lang LaSalle represented the tenant in the transaction. Lenora Adds and Steve Holmberg of Cushman & Wakefield represented the building, which is now 75 percent leased.
Adds says a recent renovation of the 218,000-sq.-ft. office drew tenant attention. The improvements included the addition of new safety and hvac systems, as well as a fitness center, an auditorium, broadcast center and data center. "Since the renovation, we've seen strong interest in the Monroe Building from tenants like Coeur who respond to the building’s blend of past and present," he said in a statement.
